Festival of Life & Music with Houston’s First Choir & Orchestra

June 15th, 2012

16 June 2012, Saturday | 830 (workshops), 1030 (concert)
Festival of Life and Music
CCF Auditorium, St Francis Square, Ortigas Center

The 120-member Choir and Orchestra of Houston’s First Baptist Church in Texas led by John Bolin  presents a rousing morning of workshops and a concert dubbed “Festival of Life and Music”, Saturday, June 16, 830 to noon.

The concert is the main event, and admission to the concert is free, but early comers may choose two from an array of 14 workshops that begin at 830.  Non-musical workshops are on topics that include family, parenting, marriage, youth, leadership, missions, mobilizing laymen, OFWs, and God’s Word.

The music workshops are:

  • The Music Leader. John Bolin leads this workshop, challenging musicians to delve deep into the meaning and beauty of music, and ultimately, to glorify God through it.
  • Up Close and Personal with Instrumental Musicians. Many in the orchestra are professional musicians and some have other careers but have had music as a major part of their life. All have kept their joy and involvement in music. Hear where the inspiration comes from to continue to excel in instrumental music and the arts. Hear their trade secrets. Ask questions.
  • Up Close and Personal with Choristers. Choir members will talk about the nurture of their voices; career experiences in vocal music; how they have kept their spirits in tune with God so they enjoy the meaning of the music; and how they have been able to express their creativity in other areas like drama, teaching and conducting.
