FILFEST Cultural Foundation sets out to inspire, educate and delight Metro South with a second season of performances.

The second concert of the season Filfest 2009: Purpose, Passion and Pleasure is FIL-AMeriKA with clarinetist Marian Liebowitz, marimbist Dena Fernandez and FILharmoniKA orchestra with guest conductor Jeffery Meyer.

Pianist, conductor and composer Jeffery Meyer is founder and Artistic Director of the St. Petersburg Chamber Philharmonic in St. Petersburg, Russia, as well as the Director of Orchestras at the Ithaca College School of Music.

Clarinetist Marian Liebowitz holds a Bachelor of Music Degree from the Eastman School of Music, the Master of Arts from Smith College, and the Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Southern California. She regularly concertizes outside the United States under the auspices of the U.S. State Department.

Violist and marimbist Dena Fernandez is violist with the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, and has been featured as marimba soloist the PPO Season and Filipino Artist Series. Her performance at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall in 2000 elicited glowing reviews.

Passionate new Filfest season in Alabang

Filfest 2009: Of Emperors and Czars

Fresh from the success of its maiden season, FILFEST Cultural Foundation sets out to inspire, educate and delight Metro South with a second season of performances.

Ensembles include the Philippine Opera Company, Nuevo Flamenco Manila, and the Clarion Chamber Ensemble. Some of FILFEST’s featured soloists for Season II are clarinetist Marian Liebowitz, marimbist Dena Fernandez, pianists Aries Caces and Jovianney Emmanuel Cruz, guitarists Ruben Reyes and Perfecto de Castro, conductors Agripino Diestro and Jeffrey Meyer.

Filfest 2009: Purpose, Passion and Pleasure begins April 25, 8 o’clock in the evening at the Insular Life Theater in Alabang.

The inaugural concert, Of Emperors and Czars, brings together violinist Justin Texon, cellist Giancarlo Gonzales, and the FILharmoniKA Orchestra under its conductor Gerard Salonga.

The Clarion Chamber Ensemble was founded in December 2001 by Flutist David Jerome Johnson and Pianist Hyun Joo Lee. Clarion is presently the only group in the Philippines solely devoted to the pursuit and sustaining of Chamber music. The Clarion musicians come from all the many musical organizations and universities in Metro Manila, and have provided a conduit where musical collaboration among musicians and singers can be pursued with the aim of public performance as its goal.
