SEPTEMBER 2009

I love listening to your station ever since I was in high school and that was way back in 1999. I was sad when I heard about your closing, but thank goodness it didn't happen. Your station and music inspired me to learn to play the violin, although I am not practicing it now. I am still eager to learn classical music and you're giving me every desire to pursue it; that I would like to thank you so much! — Female, 20s

AUGUST 2009

It's been years since I've tuned in to your station again and it's soothing to chance upon your program Bravo Filipino. For a long time I craved to hear Filipino music, especially the classic kundimans by Lucio San Pedro and the others who have given this race its long-sought musical golden age. — Male

JULY 2009

My name is […] and we’ve been listening to your radio station for almost 11 years now. You see, my mom had a stroke in 1998. She experienced brain damage and one of the side effects was loss of common knowledge, like days of the week and a sense of time. My mom has not fully recovered. Her hands remain stiff, her eyes legally blind, her intelligence close to a child’s.

As part of her recovery, we keep her tuned in to your radio station. We use it to educate her of cultural and current events. And your spiritual programs become part of her daily bread as a Christian. Aside from the classical music you play, she appreciates listening to Francis Kong’s “Business Matters”, Bible insights from John MacArthur, “Creation Moments”, Bravo Filipino, and even the DW international news. It helped my mom regain part of life that she lost. We truly apreciate your station and the efforts you do to improve it.

I’m an avid listener of your station. Perhaps avid isn’t even the proper term, as it’s the only station I listen to every time I’m on the road. I first learned about DZFE around 2000 when I was browsing through the different FM stations. Back then I was still lsitening to other pop stations. Today, however, DZFE is all I listen to. I love all the classical music you play, especially those of Joseph Haydn. So too with the classical guitar program [Classical Guitar Alive!]. I also love the programs in which the host shares the historical background of both the artist and the music. And since I get home late, I get to listen to Sound of Majesty. Just Wow. I’d certainly be remiss if I didn’t mention the regular Bible readings that guide me and assure me that things are always going to be okay. — Male

Hi! I’m Pastor […]. I’m listening to your station right now and I’m so happy that you are holding to the old fashioned and traditional way of music and proclaiming the Lord’s salvation. I thought you only played classical music, but found out today that it’s more than music that you proclam. God bless! — Male

I just arrived here in Manila last April 2009. Before I turned on my radio, I said to myself, let there be Christian music on the air. I did not know it was DZFE I was listening to! I love it and it made my day. I so adore classical masterpieces. Ever since, I always tune it through my mobile whether at work or at school. The music and most especially the teachings are enriching me — making me stronger against temptation. [They help me] deal with other people. Even as I read my Bible I listen to your great selections of classical music compositions. It doesn’t distract, but keeps me going and inspired. Thank you so much! Keep playing for Jesus! —

Throughout the day, the echoes of the orchestra continue to buzz in my ears, even at school. I am a huge fan of classical, baroque and impressionistic music, particularly for the piano. You not only give listeners the best times of their lives, you especially enrich me as a student. I want you to know that 15-year-old guys like me appreciate this kind of music a lot. — Male, student

JUNE 2009

I am a German retiree, living in Calauan, Laguna. Bravo Filipino is one of my DZFE favorites and I listen to it regularly. Last week, I was guest at the birthday party of a friend. He hired a group of elderly musicians who, to my great pleasure, also played Filipino folksongs and kundimans with great gusto and in very artistic arrangements. — Male

MAY 2009

I want to say thank you for being “different’ from any other radio station. You guys are playing the real music that, I must admit, I didn’t use to appreciate. But you made me realize that this type of music really rocks… I always listen to your station every night; it became part of my nightly routine… It carries me, not in the way punk and emo music does (I’m a big fan of those types of music). I really thank you for that. Through your music, I got to have an interest in Mozart, Beethoven and Rachmaninov… — Female, student

APRIL 2009

You and everyone at DZFE are truly a blessing in spreading the “Master’s Touch” on air. I have been an avid listener of the station since I first discovered DFZE… back in the 1980s… Since 1991, I have followed the station’s challenging struggles to stay on air, missing it terribly when there are no broadcasts. I contributed a little of what I could afford and wished I could do more, and have been praying for the station to bounce back. Now my prayers are answered… The station is on 6 days a week. I thoroughly enjoyed this Easter Sunday’s program. May this augur regular Sundays on air.

Please congratulate everyone at DZFE, particularly Tiffany and David. I heard them way back when they started, and they have really polished their craft… I am looking forward to more recognition for the wonderful Spirit willed work [at DZFE].

I’d like to congratulate your station for its new and more powerful transmitter, which now enables its listeners to better receive and hear wonderful classical music, and most especially God’s Word, over the radio waves! Your station is truly the “Master’s Touch”!

I’ve been a long-time listener of your radio station and I continue to enjoy the magnificent pieces by various classical geniuses. I pray that you continue to receive funding to further improve your station’s transmitter equipment facilities. You are all doing a great job!

I’m glad that I’m able to listen to DZFE even when I’m in Anilao, Mabini in Batangas, where I often go to dive. Listening to classical music and the Word of God by the sea is such a fantastic experience… spiritually uplifting! Maraming salamat! —

MARCH 2009

I have been missing your broadcast for about two months now. I can’t hear you at 1 kilowatt! I live here in Laguna. It’s hard to get your signal here, but I set up an antenna on the roof of my house. My friends and neighbors come over so we can listen to your broadcast. In the morning, I usually go out to take my tea on the patio, and read. I have speakers there, and I turn up the music so my next door neighbor, my landlady, can also listen to the music while she gardens. We are all missing you!

I’m always listening to the Master’s Touch, and I love the inspiring thoughts and the classical music. I’ve gone to the Creation Moments website. And I love the prayer about the Fruit of the Spirit. FEBRUARY 2009

At home in England, my favorite station is BBC Radio 3, which is renowned for the quality of its classical music schedule. When my wife and I retired and started to spend much more time in her native Philippines, as we had planned throughout our 30 years of our wonderful marriage, the one thing I missed was classical music on the radio. I so enjoy living here in the south of Taguig, overlooking Laguna de Bay, but I doubted that I would ever find a radio station that would match the one I listened to in England. Then, by pure chance, I tuned in to DZFE. Now you give me hours of pleasure and inspiration. Thank you so much!  British retiree __________________________________________________________

JANUARY 2009

I am a regular listener and am usually tuned in between 630AM to around 815AM, on my way to the office. Please allow me to commend and give credit to David, your morning DJ, for his very good choices of baroque selections. I really like the type of classical music he plays on air, particularly the baroque. He’s a learned classical enthusiast and surely knows his music! One thing I like about his style is his untiring explanation (and providing background) on the type of music, the artists, the composer’s, the musical instrument/s used, and the era when the music was composed (and popularized).

I’d also like to give your station recognition for using a Christian values platform for your programs. DZFE is definitely rare, a true Christian station and in a class of its own!

DECEMBER 2008

Just want to commend the programmers on choosing to air the Olivier Messiaen! This is truly mind blowing music! Genius, he definitely is (or was)!

… That this music is being aired at all is truly amazing… and the fact that it was heard in the afternoon is even more amazing. Imagine if a well known contemporary visiting classical conductor or composer or performing artist had a stopover in Manila and just happened to be ‘trawling’ the airwaves and happened upon DZFE (hopefully in a hotel limo), he/she’d say...”Man, these Filipinos are heavy !”. And they’ve got great taste!

Anyway, being a donor supported, non commercial station really has it’s upside, too. No advertisers to tell you what to do. I wish I could do more to support the station and I’ll try my best this coming new year. DZFE has truly become the ‘soundtrack’ of my daily life but has become more than just about music.

More power (bad pun not intended) to all of you! You may not know it but you are also ‘transfusing’ a sort of good blood into the airwaves by ‘soldiering on’. Ok, enuff said! Bravo!
Male, 40s __________________________________________________________

Thank you for the Messiaen series. A fine commentary by Prof Brandon. My eight-year-old daughter loved Oiseaux Exotiques. God bless you. The Turangalila Symphony was magnifique. Male, 50s __________________________________________________________

I love you. I love you more that you're on air for six days. I pray that you'll make it a whole week. I'm twenty-four years old and I find classical music better. I started listening to you since college. Female

Congratulations that I can now listen to this station for the whole day! The Master's Touch has been my companion since law school days while working in a law firm. I felt sad every time it signed-off at noon. The music is a stress-buster.  Bravo Filipino with Mr. Bert Robledo brings back the memory of my younger days as a member of a certain rondalla in school, playing a banduria. And Today's Cookie Ms. Tiffany has been helping me to grow in Christ; I am learning a lot from each article. I also like her soothing and cool voice. I thank God that we have this kind of station in the Philippines! More blessings DZFE!

To be honest, DZFE is one of the few stations that seems to take care over the audio quality and also the only one I listen to regularly.

In case you are wondering, I am a retired audio engineer from England and supplied, installed and trained the operators in the BBC's first computer-assisted stations in the 90's.

My children and I are always tuned in to your station every morning on our way to school. [As a result], my five-year-old son has developed an appreciation for classical music. We love your station! Keep up the good work. Female

Amidst our pop culture, DZFE helps me contemplate and analyze history, the composers, the many genres and themes they represent, but most of all, the abstraction of classical music. I’m reminded how simple and complex things are through the compositions played here. I get inspired and further educated.

I was wondering if you temporarily stopped broadcasting for a while? I usually listen to you when I study, and for the past week, I haven’t been able to get any reception. I hope you resume broadcast. Your Christian talks and classical music offering is really nice and different. Female, student

You guys are still broadcasting, right? I couldn’t get your signal on the radio. I even used my phone, but I couldn’t get through either. Please inform me if you change your frequency. I love listening to your music and topics about sayings in the Bible. It provides upliftment, practical realization about why I am here in this world. Keep up the good work and continue to touch lives! Hail to your great classical music! Reception is not exceptional; I live in Bacoor, Cavite, and work in Muntinlupa City. DZFE is a preset on my car stereo and at home on my sound system. I tune in every morning to the time I get to work. Male, System Administrator, 30s, married

SEPTEMBER 2008

Been listening to the Master’s Touch since last year, and I’m glad you are now on the air the whole six days a week. It would really be nice for us classical listeners if you would have Sundays too! You’ve got a nice line up of programs. I especially like the request program [Favorites], Classical Drive, Harmonia, The Good Measure, Sound of Majesty and the concerts. Every day is a learning experience, thanks to DZFE. I get to hear classical music and information about the works and lives of the composers, at the same time, listen to the Master’s Words.   Female

I am based in California and just recently migrated from Manila early this year. Back when I was still working in Quezon City and on my way to work early in the morning, I would make it a point to listen to our station in my car since I am an avid classical music listener. More power to your station and keep up the good work! Your station is one of the those with substance. It touches the hearts of people in ways unimaginable!

AUGUST 2008

I love classical and jazz. I listen to the Master’s Touch everyday. It’s refreshing to tune in to your station. Please keep it up. I’m a 13-year-old high school student in Manila. I play the piano and recorder and am dying to learn the violin and flute. 98.7 DZFE refreshes my hope and dream of becoming a musician. Man can make such beautiful music… I can’t wait to hear heavenly music… must be really beautiful.

Oh, I wanted to know if you still have your story-telling of some sort, like the one before, Little Women. I’d really appreciate it if you do more of those. There are many other people requesting such things and there are so many listeners who have their own taste, so I will understand if my request can’t be done. You guys
must be really busy! Thank you and God bless!

Just want to congratulate you on the great work you’re doing… the station has really ‘evolved’! The Varese on Russell Brandon’s show, the bluegrass “Death by Fiddle” on The Good Measure… “A Different Perspective” with Bernie Dymet is also wonderful and in a perfect time slot… The San Francisco Symphony show, “Nightlights”… Classics for Kids… Harmonia… I can’t think right now… too wonderful and overwhelming! Unbelievable too!

Bravo (sound effects: wild clapping, foot stomping, whistling, etc!) Keep up the great work!

I just want to appreciate this radio station. The music is refreshing and soothing. I’m a sort of loner and never wanted loud and noisy songs. Then I found your station. To Tiffany Liong, Bert Robledo, CCF Alabang, Ptr. Peter Tanchi, Eric Maliwat and the few more I remember hosting… Thank you… I’ll be one of your prayer partners to reach many for Him. Male

JULY 2008

I have been a listener since I was 14 years old. I joined your contests and won a prize or two. I was studying piano at that time and it helped me learn my pieces better. Thirty-three years later, and I am still listening to the Master’s Touch. I have introduced your station to my kids and I hope they pass it on to their kids too.

Congratulations on your partnerships with different programs abroad. I also love your local offerings. Listening to popular Philippine folk music made me teary eyed. I look forward to Classics for Kids. (I am certainly not a kid, but I really, really enjoy Ms. Lewin’s program! It’s light, entertaining and educational.)

Keep up the good work. I continue to pray for all of you!

Pax et bonum! I’ve been a listener of DZFE since freshman high school (18 years ago!). I entered religious formation as a friar. I am very thankful you are still on air with the same quality, zeal and spirit.

Your station is doing a lot to spread the Good News of the Lord and help souls live and grow as Christians even in their humblest and most ordinary moment. Despite our different sects, I keep you in my prayers. Good Christian work is not defined only by nuances of theology and faith, but in the concrete fruits of prayer which we find in our relationships with each other. I pray for your holy perseverance in God’s vineyard.

JUNE 2008

I have been a DZFE listener since 1980 when I was in college. Over the years, Mozart and Brahms became my steady companions during the morning and evening commutes.

I don’t mind the religious/ spiritual content at all. Listening to the talks made me appreciate my Catholic faith all the more, and discover how much about God and Jesus I share with non-Catholics. Besides, when God is your main benefactor, you will never run short of anything. He has blessed us with marvelous composers and performers, and he contnues to bless us with more time to play great music. God and the classics go together. Congratulations!
 Male, late 40s

Thank you for staying on air longer. Your music became 'my music' after accidentally turning the dial into your frequency. And I thought that was all I'd get, beautiful music. Thank you most importantly for keeping my soul so alive and nourished.

I used to just close the radio at 12pm after you sign off and open again at about 6pm. But now that we have Bravo Filipino plus other programs, it's non stop. I grew loving Filipino classics too when at first I thought there were none.

It's inspiring to listen to your station now that hard situations are global and there seem to be no more hope. The music seems to have a good psychological effect. I try to tell friends how classical music affects my personality plus inspiring verses and talks about the Holy Bible which is truly lacking nowadays. God really works in every way possible and your station is one of His transmitters of His love and Good News of salvation.

Again, thank you for keeping me 'in tune' to God's love. Blessed be God forever!
Female, 31 y.o.

Thank you for having a program like Sound of Majesty! I have been listening to it faithfully for the last six months, and for me, it’s like a ‘sacred appointment’ to listen to it in the evening (that’s good—less television too), and I have considered it ‘worship-thru-music’ to end my day. I hope that DZFE will keep it on air for a long, long time, and Mr. Greg Wheatley will host it for a long, long time… I have told my friends about it, as well as all the other programs of DZFE.

MAY 2008

I appreciate very much your steady programming improvement. The addition of Mr. Brandon is a delight. I request that in his ongoing new series he should alsoinclude Benjamin Britten and Paul Hindemith. How about Kurt Weill? Thanks also to Bert Robledo! And to the new CCP Program! God speed to you all. You lighten up the life of an old man.

I’m 22. Mainstream radio and the junk of MTV nearly made me give up music. I like shortwave better and I’m a fan of broadway and the classics. I wrote to thank you for your love in bringing God’s message to the Philippines. I have been inspired by your radio programs since late last year. I found DZFE just when I was going through the toughest, saddest and lowest point in my life. God showed me His strength through some of the things I picked up from listening to your station. I tune in whenever I feel like I need to step away from the challenges I’m facing. DZFE is a sort of quiet hideaway. When things get hectic and I need to zone out, I look for 98.7. And sometimes I listen until sign off. My only wish is for DZFE to be on air longer. Thank you for being an instrument of the Lord’s peace and grace.
