Another Seductive Sorceress

If you’ve been following the show, you may have caught the series “The Seductive Sorceress” on OPERAPHILE (Sat 1900, Tue 000). That series featured operas based on a particular literary source Orlando Furioso (The Frenzy of Roland, or Mad Roland), a 16th century Italian epic poem by Ludovico Ariosto. For the series “Another Seductive Sorceress”, OPERAPHILE focuses on operas based on La Gerusalemme liberata (Jerusalem Delivered), like Orlando Furioso, a 16th century Italian epic poem, but this time by poet Torquato Tasso. We’ll hear Lully’s Armide, Rossini’s Armida, and Handel’s Rinaldo.
