Behind an Artist’s Life

Posted on Apr 4, 2015

OPERAPHILE (Sat 1900, Wed 000) launches a new series inspired by the recent visit to our shores by one of the greatest opera singers of our era—the British-Romanian soprano, Nelly Miricioiu. Behind an Artist’s Life features early 20th century operas about artists — Giacomo Puccini’s 1900 Tosca, Franceco Cilea’s 1902 Adriana Lecouvreur, and Richard Strauss’ 1942 Capriccio. The series launches April 4 with an up-close-and-personal evening in the company of Nelly Miricioiu, featuring an in-depth and disarming interview in our studio, clips from her recent, triumphant March 6 performance, excerpts from her discography, and a chat with her collaborating pianist here, Najib Ismail.
