…that ends well.

The weather outside may be frightful—figuratively speaking!—but there is much to delight on our December roster.

From our partner, the WFMT Network, come two seasonal specials. In her third Christmas season special for the WFMT Network, Dee Alexander shares songs that inspire celebration and spark nostalgia for the holiday on CHRISTMAS MEMORIES WITH DEE ALEXANDER (12 Dec, Sat 1900).  Jeanette Sorrell, head of the early music ensemble Apollo’s Fire, takes listeners from Christmas in medieval Scotland to a toe‐tapping Christmas gathering in Virginia, in CHRISTMAS ON SUGARLOAF MOUNTAIN (12 Dec, Sat 2000).

DZFE’s CHRISTMAS TAPESTRY runs 16 Dec-2 Jan (Wed 1300, Sat 1900). This season enchants weekly with a program featuring Engelbert Humperdinck’s fairy-tale opera Hänsel und Gretel; wintry tableaus from the pens of Georgy Sviridov, Wilhelm Stenhammar, and Sergei Rachmaninov; and highlight of the series, DZFE’s A Quarantine Lessons & Carols in a simple presentation of the beloved tradition with DZFE presenters, guest readers from FEBC Philippines, and musician friends of DZFE.

The weekly sacred music program from St Olaf College SING FOR JOY, offers a musical gift of grace for your heart and mind—highlights of the 108th annual Christmas Festival Concert at St. Olaf College, with the theme: A NEW SONG OF GRACE AND TRUTH (24 Dec, Thu 1230 / 25 Dec, Fri 630 / 1 Jan, Fri 130).

And join us for our annual NEW YEAR’S EVE WITH BEETHOVEN’S NINTH (31 Dec, Thu 2300) as we turn the calendar to Beethoven’s stirring refrain on his 250th anniversary year.
