The Young Voices, a youth choir from Egeln, Germany, performs with the Manila Chamber Singers this weekend and the following Monday.

The Young Voices —Egeln Chamber Choir is a German youth choir, founded after some students had to leave the school choir after graduation but wanted to continue singing. This was 15 years ago. In this time they did many concerts not only in Germany but also Russia, Florida, the Czech Republic and many other countries.

The choir continues the work of the school’s chamber choir and gives former students the opportunity to continue singing. Their a cappella repertoire spans over five centuries: from classical music (Renaissance, Baroque and Romantic) and spirituals, through to pop songs and choir music of the 20th century. They are the organizers of the Sine Musica Nulla Vita International Choir Festival, held every other year in Egeln, Germany. The group has recorded CDs and has sung in their state, Saxony-Anhalt.

The Manila Chamber Singers (MCS) is composed of students and non-professional singers from different vocations who share a ilassion for fine choral music. Founded in 1999, MCS has performed in numerous concerts in the country and abroad, and represented the Philippines in several international choir festivals and competitions in Asia, Europe and North America. The group garnered awards and critical acclaim for their performances in international concert tours including: Canada (2012), Europe (2011,2007 and2004), China (2006), and Hong Kong (2002). The choir is the organizer of two of the Philippines’ choral festivals: The Colors of Worship: A Festival of Sacred Choral Music, featuring church-based choirs (since 2004) and the Manila Choral Festival (since 2007) featuring some of the Philippines’ internationally-renowned choirs.
In 2011, MCS joined the 6th Sine Musica Nulla Vita International Choir Festival in Egeln, Germany, organized by the Young Voices. That was the start of a beautiful, musical friendship between the two choirs.
