Gloria! Join us for DZFE’s 70th

Posted on Feb 3, 2024

DZFE marks 70 years of broadcast with GLORIA: a celebration of Bach and Baroque Masters, in partnership with our friends from the International Bamboo Organ Festival and Union Church of Manila.

Hear concerti by Vivaldi, Sammartini and Corelli, the Gloria from Bach’s Mass in G, BWV 236, and a complete performance of the Cantata 140, the beloved “Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme” (Sleepers Awake). (As an outreach program of the International Bamboo Organ Festival, this program of music will also be performed in Las Piñas at the Festival on February 29.) The International Bamboo Organ Festival is the longest continuously-running and only music festival in the country specializing the performance of early music.

Hear the Manila Baroque Ensemble and their soloists Jose Marie Eserjose, Leigh Celano, Paul Natividad , John Paul Anorico and organist Armando Salarza, and the Collegium Vocale Manila with Stefanie Quintin (soprano), Ervin Lumauag (tenor), and Lawrence Jatayna (bass). Noemi Binag and Dr Beverly Shangkuan-Cheng conduct. DZFE voices will present.

Admission is free but requires registration.  The concert is fundraising, and we invite your support for DZFE expressed as an anniversary gift, either during registration or at the venue. Limited edition 70th Anniversary mugs (8oz), handcrafted by potter EJ Espiritu of Cornerstone Pottery Farm, will be raffled among givers of anniversary gifts Php2,000 and more.
