The Manila Chamber Orchestra Foundation celebrates its 30th year with the theme Celebrating the Music of Life. As part of this season’s Young Artists’ Series, MCOF presents Rey Casey R. Concepcion in a rare viola recital.
Concepcion won First Prize in the 2007 Philippine’s National Music Competition for Young Artists (NAMCYA) Competition. He participated in the Southeast Asia Youth Orchestra and Wind Ensemble as assistant concertmaster in 2007, and as principal violist in 2008. He served as the principal violist of the Manila Symphony Orchestra from 2006 to 2013. Concepcion is currently a professor at the St. Scholastica’s College of Music, violist of the NAMCYA winning-ensemble Quartetto Espressivo, and member of the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra.
Concepcion performs with pianist J. Greg Zuniega, a program that includes JS Bach’s Suite No. 1 in G (transcr. for viola), Max Bruch’s Romanze, Henry Wieniawski Reverie for viola & piano and Brahms’ Viola Sonata in E-flat, Op. 120/2.
